Even though the Prime Big Deal Days sales are sure to be very generous, there are ways for parents to save even more during the annual sale.
First, check out Amazon’s Warehouse, which sells tons of used items, like smartphones to high chairs, at deeply discounted prices. There could be additional deals on these items during Prime Big Deal Days, helping you save even more. Just remember that some items, like car seats, breast pumps and cribs shouldn’t be bought secondhand for safety reasons.
Second, create an Amazon Registry if you or your partner are pregnant. Amazon Prime registrants get a 15 percent “completion discount” to use towards remaining items on their baby registries. Knowing you have the discount can help you make smarter purchases during Prime Big Deal Days. For instance, if the car seat you want is 12 percent off during Prime Big Deal Days, you could pass on the sale knowing that you can use your 15 percent completion discount down the road. (Or that you'll get and even deeper discount during Black Friday.) The reverse is also true: If your favorite car seat is, say, 25 percent off during Prime Big Deal Days, you’ll probably want to purchase it right then and there, since that’s a more favorable discount.
Third, use this two-day event to stock up on everyday essentials. Specifically, diapers. Buy at least one box each of sizes 1 through 3 if you’re pregnant or have a newborn; if your baby’s older, buy at least one box of whatever size they’re in now, plus one box of the following two sizes. In doing so, you are saving a significant amount on something you’re guaranteed to need eventually.
