For the month of October, the Town Square Lobby Gallery features the vibrant work of stained glass mosaic artist Sue Sewell.
Works such as this by stained glass mosaic artist Sue Sewell will be on display in the Town Square Lobby Gallery.
Open to the public, the gallery operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sewell, who grew up exploring the natural beauty of central Wisconsin, channels her profound love for nature into her art.
“The textures and colors of glass interact uniquely with light, giving my mosaics a dynamic presence,” Sewell said “I aim to encapsulate the serenity and peace that one experiences in nature, hoping to convey cheerfulness and calm to those who encounter my work.”
Over four decades, Sewell has experimented with various art forms, but her passion lies in stained glass mosaics.
Traditional stained glass felt restrictive to her, whereas mosaics offer a liberating medium to express her creativity.
“Inspired by nature’s beauty, I carefully select and layer pieces of glass that best reflect what I see outdoors,” she said. “Recycled objects often serve as the canvas for my art, contributing to sustainability.”
